Love in February
It’s that time again, the season of romance. The last year has been kind to our Romance genre, filling it with a number of gems just waiting for eager listeners.
We’re excited to offer three titles in the ever-popular Stephanie Laurens’ steamy Bastion Club series: Beyond Seduction, The Edge of Desire, and Mastered by Love (coming in March). The men of the Bastion Club proved their bravery secretly fighting for their country, and now it’s time for the greatest challenge of all: winning over the perfect bride. All three novels are read by Steven Crossley.
Another threesome recently acquired is Rachael Herron’s Cypress Hollow series. How to Knit a Love Song, How to Knit a Heart Back Home, and Wishes and Stitches are three tales of people learning to take a chance on love. This heartwarming series is read by the wonderful Carrington MacDuffie. Also, be sure to check out Blackstone’s exclusive interview with Rachael Herron, right here on The Audiobook Insider.
Looking for Mr. Right? You might find him in Ireland—at least if you’re a character in Mary Carter’s The Pub across the Pond. Kirsten Potter nails the Irish brogue in this delightful little book about one woman’s adventure to Ireland to run a pub she won in a raffle. It’s a bumpy ride, but she meets a host of colorful characters.
Jumping east, The House at Tyneford, written by Natasha Solomons and read by Justine Eyre, is an irresistible World War II story of a forbidden upstairs-downstairs romance in a great English country house. Nineteen-year-old Elise Landau must leave her ritzy life in Austria to become a parlor maid in England. When the master of house’s young son returns home, sparks fly.
For younger audiences, or those getting in touch with their inner teen, Maureen Daly’s classic teen romance, Seventeenth Summer, is a great listen, read by Julia Whelan. Angie never thought much of high school romances—until she met Jack. The two fill their summer with stolen moments and romantic nights, but as fall approaches, they must figure out if their love is forever or just a summer they’ll never forget.
We now have three series from beloved Amish Romance author Shelley Shepard Gray: Sisters of the Heart, Seasons of Sugarcreek, and Families of Honor. A fourth, Secrets of Crittenden County, starts with Missing, out March 20, 2012. Check out our lovely interview with Shelley Shepard Gray, here on The Audiobook Insider.
Also in Amish Romance is Adina Senft’s The Wounded Heart, the first book in the Amish Quilt trilogy. In this tale read by Marguerite Gavin, Amelia is torn between what logic tells her is right and the desire of her heart.
Blackstone also offers plenty of classic romantic tales, from Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre to Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. We also have several sensual Romantic Suspense offerings from Cherry Adair: Night Shadow, Night Fall, and Night Secrets.
